in between 30 seconds

I was doing quick study's in the library, trying not to spend more then 2 to 3 minutes on a drawing. when I started getting board I spent a little bit more time on a picture from a Magazine. I think I spent maybe 15 min on this one.

In for a Suprise

Week 2 for this dialog project that's starting this semester. the clip is going to be from big fish. I have done most of the story board, shot some of the referance, and have finished customizing one of the charaters. I'm using the morpheus rig because I'm a little tired of animating norman. the rig is from Josh Burton's site:

http://www.joshburton.com/projects/morpheus.asp

the only thing I did't like about the rig is the hips rotate an the bottom of the crotch, in stead of a were the spine and hips meet. with a little modification of the joint system I was able to make it work the way I want.

here is some quick renders of the first character.

Fall 2010

Lift Sack from Jason Cole on Vimeo.

I am starting to finish up some work from last semester. it took a little longer to finish this piece because I didn't realize how incomplete it was. this was a lifting wight exercise for one of my assignments. I redid the rig for Sacky to give it some better overlap in the animation.

Drawing at work

I try to find time to draw at work when I can. I usually just use pen and scrap paper. this way it's easy to destroy the evidence if I see the bosses stopping buy. also pen is unforgiving.

I try not to spend to much time on these at work because I have to deal with a lot of people at any given moment.

what? I have a blog

ok ok ok so I have been neglecting the this blog. so.. let try this thing one more time. my goal is to post at least once a week to show my progress before the end of the spring semester. and hopefully the rest of my art. for the rest of my life.
